LOS ANGELES - October 19, 2004 - In a demonstration of their commitment to providing subcontracting opportunities to the local minority business community, The South Group, developers of Elleven (a new downtown condominium project), recently joined AEG, developers of the downtown sports and entertainment district across the street from STAPLES Center, to discuss strategies of ensuring that minority and women-owned business learn about subcontracting opportunities available through their new multi-million dollar development projects based in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. In conjunction with the Los Angeles Minority Business Opportunity Committee, The South Group and AEG held their outreach strategy meeting at STAPLES Center, which is located just blocks from each of the new development projects.

Elleven, the area's first new urban high-rise in 20 years, is located at 11 th street and Grand and represents the first phase of The South Group's development, which will ultimately span a total of 1.5 million square feet of residential, commercial and parking development. AEG is leading the development of a 27acre downtown sports and entertainment district featuring a new 7,000-seat theatre and 1,200-room, 55-story hotel complex. Both projects are expected to offer up to 20% of construction subcontracts to the minority business community.

"Our goal is to ensure that our $250 million in total investment for Elleven and our other two phases in development is infused directly into the local and minority community," said Pamela Dowell of P. Dowell & Associates, who is working with The South Group to outreach to minority and women-owned businesses.

"We are very pleased that The South Group will join with AEG to further our dedication to providing opportunities for local minority and women-owned businesses," said Michelle Smith-Ballard, Director of Business Diversity for AEG. "Beginning with the development of STAPLES Center, our organization has viewed the contracting of this very valuable and important business community as a high priority and appreciate The South Group's commitment to joining us and other leaders in helping to reach these goals."
